Interesting scenario HSMP->HSMP (not extension)

Post by tomkin » Fri Mar 02, 2007 1:58 pm

I am just wondering if someone has HSMP approval and does not apply for FLR(HSMP) or EC with in 6 months.

Can he/she apply for a fresh HSMP approval again, even if it was already approved six months ago ?

Experts please oblige :)

Yes u can re-apply but that doesnt guarantee that ur application will be approved though.

Why wud u wanna do that especially if u've been already approved in the 1st instance and thats why the 6months period is there so u can apply for FLR or EC.

Thanks for the reply mate.

Here is the story.

I will finish 3 years in November in UK on WP. I was thinking if i apply for HSMP in July then apply for FLR in October then i am guaranteed to get ILR.

I have already applied for HSMP and result is expected any time next week.

I hope I am clear on this.

Why does it not guarantee approval, if the docs are correct ?

Is there any rule regarding applying twice ? Please reply

But you still can't say there will be no changes to this scheme between now and oct 07....

Eaxctly, looks like HO is on a change drive every 6 months. There is no guarantee rules will not change again. Come April, you may see some more changes.

Already affected a lot of people. First the ILR period changed from 4 to 5 yrs. Now HSMP rules have changed. But, I must agree the new scheme is much friendly. Problem lies with the case-worker. If they use a bit more common sense, it would be great. Sometimes, applications are refused for bizarre reasons.

i'm in a simliar boat. my timeline is this:

sep 03- initial 2 year WP
sep 05- WP extension (3 years)
dec 06- HSMP approved
mar 07- Waiting on FLR(HSMP)
jun 08- take "life in the UK test"
sep 08- apply for ILR
sep 09 apply for citizenship.

i won't have to apply for HSMP extension, whcih is def a good thing. i'm planning on part time work & part time study in sep 07...

however, in sep 08, i must be able to show that i'm in employment and a benefit to the country....

So can this be achieved? There were no clear answers.

If you check your approval letter, it is written that if not applied, you have to make a fresh application with new fee. Better is to ask from Home Office, and post here as well if got any response from them.
