Getting into Singapore with Foreign passport

Post by catpan » Thu Aug 26, 2004 3:04 am

Please do advise....I am currently holding dual passport, Malaysian and a new Canadian passport (clean, no stamps). I am thinking of going back to Singapore and also visiting Brunei and Malaysia. If i am to enter Singapore with Canadian Passport and leaving Singapore also with Canadian Passport, but entering Brunei and leaving Brunei with Malaysian passport, would it be dangerous to get caught? Would I pass through both immigration check-point? Would immigration in Brunei be looking for my exit stamps from Singapore? If i am to return to Singapore (exiting Brunei with Malaysian Passport) and entering Singapore with Canadian passport, would Singapore immigration ask for my exit stamps from Brunei considering it is a clean passport and only stamps available would be those that I had enter and exit Singapore? Would they ask where I have been? Please do help.....

I have dual nationality, Thai and Australian.

Firstly you should realise that Malaysia forbids dual nationality, so you should in reality give up your malaysian citizenship when you took out Canadian citizenship.

Secondly, my general rule when travelling around Asia is to use one passport only, especially when crossing land borders in the region. In my experience, Singapore has questioned the stamp trail in my PP, both at Changi and at the Woodlands cause way. Malaysia does not recognise dual nationality at all, even for foriegners, so they insist you keep using the same passport that you used in the country you just departed.
