How can my adult Brazilian stepson join us in UK?

Post by SouthLondoner » Sun Feb 24, 2013 6:31 pm

Hello,

I'm new to this forum, so apologies if this Q has been asked before. Feel free to direct me to the answers if they already exist...

Here's out situation:

My husband and I want his 24 year old son/ my stepson to come and live with us in the UK, but but I can't work out how we can get him here!

Are there any visas that would be suitable for him? Would he need to come on a student visa and then transfer to another visa? If so, what would that other visa be? And what would the time scales be? And most importantly, is his application likely to be successful?

More about us:
*My husband and I are both working full time and have a home, so can support him whilst he settles in.
*I'm a British citizen and my husband has indefinite leave to remain and is now eligible to apply for British Citizenship.
* We would be able to find work (non-skilled, like resturants/ cleaning) for him within 24 hours of his arrival if that was needed.
*My step son has worked as a hairdresser in his native Brazil, but is currently unemployed. He finished school at 18 and is a good citizen. He's in the process of learning English but his knowledge of the language is pretty non-existent at the moment. Not sure if it's relevant but he's also gay but I don't think he's faced any persecution for it in Brazil. He currently has no savings, but is working on that.
* He's looking to move within the next year once he's saved up for the cost of the flight and visa and completed his English course.

Many thanks in advance!:)

Jo

I am sorry to say that the fact that his father now has UK ILR is of absolutely no benefit to him. Accordingly any visa application he might make will need to justified on his personal facts, with no assistance at all from his father's UK immigration status.

Accordingly for example :-
We would be able to find work (non-skilled, like restaurants/ cleaning) for him within 24 hours of his arrival if that was needed.
-: .... totally impossible.
