Yah, I agree. But I think they start processing the documents as from the moment the Biometrics was taken.

In my case (22nd July applicant), I did not get a Biometrics letter until 11th of November. I wrote them an e-mail and just after that they sent the Biometrics application. They took slightly more than a week to take the money out too.

I also changed of address a month after sending my application. i did so by sending a letter to their Liverpool office...still the Biometrics letter arrived to my old address (even after reminding if this in the complaint e-mail).

Most of the people that have gotten their documents back have done their biometrics September/October so I suspect we should be looking at the time our biometrics was done instead of when we sent our application.

Hi
As you may have noticed the fellow forum members have been sarcastic in saying that it is easy to explain off-side rules to their wives (women )than explaining the way how UKBA deals with applications.
Basically Offside in football is very complex rule although you think you know the rule but you may get surprised when referees apply this rule in different games.

A player is in an offside position if, when the ball is played by a team-mate, they are nearer to the opposition's goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent.
The second last opponent determines the line from where the offside area begins and can be anywhere in this half of the pitch.
The referee's assistant will make their decision based on this offside area.
All straightforward so far? This is where the grey areas start to make life a little confusing.
A change to the rule was introduced two years ago, which allows a player to be in an offside position provided they are not "actively involved in play".
It was designed to promote attacking football, but it is open to interpretation.
Fifa, world football's governing body, gives the following definition:
"Interfering with play means playing or touching the ball passed or touched by a team-mate."
However, a player does not necessarily have to touch the ball to influence play. They are still offside if, in the opinion of the referee, they are judged to be:
Interfering with an opponent If an attacker interferes with an opponent by either preventing them from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent's line of vision or movements or making a gesture or movement which deceives or distracts an opponent, then they are offside.
Gaining an advantage If the ball is played into the penalty area and he plays the ball that rebounds to him off a post, crossbar or an opposing defender, then the attacker is offside as they have gained an advantage by being in that position.
OFFSIDE ESSENTIALS
Here are a few more things to remember.
You can't be offside if:
You receive the ball directly from a goal kick, a throw-in or a corner
You are in your own half of the pitch
You are level with the second last or last two opponents
You are level with or behind the ball
You are not actively involved in play, as explained above
For any offside offence, the referee awards an indirect free-kick to the opposing team, to be taken from the place where the infringement occurred.

Thanks mate for the lengthy explanation.. I knew off-side rule (however, never new all the bits pieces involved ... thanks for explaining) but didn't get my head around what that's rule got to do in this UKBA context... I am being a bit tooo focused when I come to this forum... I might have to relax a bit...

Yup guys its clear now

still waiting for BRP delivery after 10 working days, does anyone here waited more than 10 working days? i sent email to BRP, they replied saying;

"Thank you for your enquiry regarding the delivery of your Biometric Residence Permits (BRP). This has been passed to the caseworker who should contact you directly.

You are advised not to make any travel arrangements until you have received the BRP.

Please do not reply to this e-mail.

I am losing my patience! Its nearly been 7 months now and still no update!

I have sent in email to Home office as a complaint. I really cant believe that a straight forward case can take this long?
I am thinking of going to Liverpool and protesting outside their office!!(Peacefully ofcourse).

This is really BAD customer service for what we have all paid for!

Hi,

A friend of mine had similar problem last year in his Tier -1 extension. My friend's wife and son got their biometric but my friend's card did not arrive. First of all they didn't entertain him until 10 working days passed after he received the approval letter.

Then on 11th working day he received a letter asking him to submit biometric again because there was some problem with his signature. He went to Liverpool from Edinburgh where he enrolled his first biometric and it took them 10 working days again after the second submission to send his BM card.

They take 10 working days after every stage !!!

Hope your will arrive without any such issue.
take care.

Any chance one of the admins could append UKBA's contact details to the Skydrive spreadsheet i.e email address for complaints, postal address for the same as well as phone numbers? It will save us having to trawl through posts looking for this info, and might also encourage more of us to send in complaints!

Hi,

I don't think that you are allowed to travel without Biometric card because its visa. You may be able to go out of the UK but your home country will not allow you to return because you wont be able to show them visa. similarly UK or any connecting flight country will not allow you to enter.

Hope you gets your BM before your flight dates.

Sorry about your situation mate...but I am afraid the chances are very bleak..

First, things first...contact your MP... meet them personally as soon as possible... google search your MPs office and go there and meet him/her and explain the situation

Hi,

I called HO, sent a complaint e-mail, posted 2 letters to their Liverpool offices and I have now contacted my MP.

I will let you know the outcome of the later one as the first 3 things I did caused no response from HO.
