is an adopted child considered your family member under eea

Post by pliny » Fri Mar 15, 2013 11:33 am

my partner is an eea national and we have been together for 3 a bit over a years. She has a child from a previous relationship and i adopted the child after we got together. It is my name on the birth certificate. is that proof enough that the child is my family member under eu law? We arent married but are in a durable relationship and i am just looking to put my application in using the eea route.

Yes. If you have adopted the child, then you are a parent of the child.

Also, any other children/grandchildren of your spouse are automatically covered if you are married.

Other children of your non-married spouse are likely also covered, in the same way that your non-married spouse is covered.
