Tourist Visa Times

Hey everyone,

I'm an American staying with a friend in Dublin. However, I will be starting college here later in the year. So, my plan is to spend 3 months in Dublin, then simply stay in Belfast as part of the UK for 6 months until my student visa for Dublin becomes active.

I've read varying things, and heard varying things about this. Some people claim 3 months Ireland 6 months UK is fine, other's say it depends on where you fly in, etc etc.

Any help is much appreciated!

My intent was to simply train up from Dublin, but assuming I need a new tourist visa stamp for the UK, I could fly to mainland Europe and then to Belfast?

Yeah that's what you should do so that your passport shows exit and entry as you know within the Common Travel Area, there isn't that much immigration control especially for you as you are not a Visa-Required national.

So there shouldn't be any issues with being in Ireland 3 months and the UK 6 months directly after?
