I just realised that the EEA route application process has changed from a few years back when it required that the initial process be lodged in a UK embassy abroad (for EEA FP).
Am I correct in thinking that now an EEA member currently excercising treaty rights in the UK and his partner can apply directly for a residence card from within the UK using an EEA2 form?
1) Do they still issue a certificate of application, and how long does it take to arrive (roughly)?
2) What rights does the applicant have whilst awaiting the residence card? Is it an extension of current status or do they gain EEA family member status while they wait?
3) Can passports still be requested back whilst the application is underway without stopping the application?
