New HSMP Applicant from South Africa

Hi

I am a new HSMP applicant from South Africa. Just discovered this BB last night. I was reading all night. Especially JayGee's posts.

Application submitted through agency in UK (via Net) on 26 June 2004 (used DHL).
Application received by HO on 1 July.

I claimed 75 points (including 10 for my spouse). I am in the sciences - Bachelors in microbiology, 6 years exp.
I am still submitting job applications through Reed.co.uk, monster and New Scientist.co.uk. Hopefully I can get a job offer before this waiting gets the better of me .

Question: would it be lying/illegal if, on a job application, they ask if I am entitled to work in the UK, I make a tick in the YES block? With my application to the HSMP in mind getting a job offer would speed things up.

Well done and congratulations on your choice of applying for HSMP.

By ticking that you have a work permit - a quick cross reference by an eagle eye Recruitment Officer can easily detect that you misrepresented the true facts, that is in August 2004 you said you had a work permit but the permit was only issued in September 2004, so in essence this could be seen as a negative attribute of yours.

If you consider that your skills are in demand in the UK then why dare to risk? After all, once you have the HSMP you can officially state the fact that you have a work permit!!

If you expect to get the visa in October or ealier I would have ticked yes. You still have 30 days in your notice period ? If are called in for an interview, you going to have to explain your VISA situation.
