Dependent of a 10 year long stay catagory settled person

Post by Ged » Thu Apr 04, 2013 1:13 pm

My 10 years long residency ILR has arrived today after a 7 months wait. Now the question is my wife's FLR. My tier 1 and her tier 1 dependent visas both expired while we waited for my ILR. Therefore, we made a FLR application for her without my ILR but with a cover letter explaining the situation.

I remember seeing others like me who were also confused about what to do next. Will the UKBA already know that I received my ILR, or should I do something to alert them?

If her FLR(M) application was made prior her leave expiring, then she should be okay.

Hi Vinny,
We made the application before her leave expires. I know others went through the same process without a problem. However my question is, now that I have my ILR, should I get in touch with the UKBA again to let them know I have the ILR and therefore they should not delay my wife's process? Or should I send the biometric card back to them, as FLR(M) form requires the original ILR of the sponsor? Or do I do nothing as they already know that they issued my ILR?

There shouldn't be any harm in letting them know (what they should already know). There may be a different caseworker dealing with your wife's application.

Thanks, It makes sense. I will call them. I know 2 other similar cases where the sponsor just waited and the wife's visa arrived within weeks. However, I cannot find them anymore to be sure.

For anyone interested in this situation here is what happened next;
After my ILR arrived, I called the BA telephone line to ask what to do next. The bored voice on the other end of the line told me that I did not need to do anything as the caseworker dealing with my wife's application would already know that these two cases were linked. So I did nothing and my wife's FLR(M) arrived today.
Good luck to anyone waiting in a similar case.
