I applied for British citizenship for my family including my son on the basis of ILR + 1 year (who was born in the UK, and thus entitled to registered as a British citizen) at the end of February through NCS facility. Upon making the application, we went to India for a 10 day short trip (from 20th March to 1st April) on our Indian passports. When we returned back, the approval letters from Home Office had been delivered to our address (letter dated 14th March), which asked us to make an appointment with our local council within 21 days from the date of the letter. We promptly made an appointment and attended the private ceremony for citizenship on 5th April, wherein the Certificate of Naturalisation as a British citizen was handed to me and my wife (dated 5th April), and certificate of registration for my son was also handed over (pre-dated 13th March).
My understanding is that once we have taken British citizenship, we cannot go to India on our Indian passports. This seems to be fine for me and my wife, however, even though we attended the citizenship ceremony on 5th April, my son’s certificate of registration was pre-dated to 13th march, and he went along with us to India on 20th March on an Indian passport. Will this create any issues when we make an OCI application for him at the Indian embassy? Is there anything we can do to solve the issue, as we did not attend the citizenship ceremony till the 5th April, well after we returned from India, and received all three certificates only on 5th April?
