Extremely slow processing of post 15-July extensions

Post by aix » Tue Sep 07, 2004 6:59 am

The processing speed of HSMP extensions (submitted after 15 July 2004) seems to have dropped massively in the recent weeks.

According to http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/workin ... rvice.html

Two weeks ago: Currently working on cases received 27 July 2004
One week ago: Currently working on cases received 27 July 2004
This week: Currently working on cases received 28 July 2004

It definitely wasn't this slow previously.

Any ideas what happened?

August is generally a period when most people take their summer holidays - I suspect HSMP office has been short staffed..

The speed should pick up this month hopefully

This sounds like a plausible explanation.

However, I do think that taking two weeks to process one day's worth of applications is unacceptable. Particularly now that we have to pay to cover the cost of the service (and then some).
