Directive/2004/38/EC dependent relatives....?

Post by raja999 » Thu May 02, 2013 12:22 am

Hi All,
Need help. I will be getting British passport soon (applied). I am working full time. Its seems now it not possible to call parents (one above 65) and dependent relatives( sisters) permanently to uk. I am reading about exercising EU treating rights.

Can i call my parents and dependent sisters with respect to
EU Law. I am willing to move to another EU country if i have to to bring my dependents .

Please can anyone explain to me if this is possible in any EU country and let me know how.

Thanks in advance

raja999, what is your present citizenship? Have you been working in the UK?

Once you or your husband/wife have British citizenship, then you can consider working in another EU member state and bringing your dependent parents with you and then back to the UK.

Thx a lot for your reply. Let me know how long i have to stay and work in another country to enable this rule.

Is it possible i work only weekend on another eu country and work weekdays in uk as normal job..?

Which country in eu is best to apply from and which country should i avoid ?
How much money I have to have in my bank account..? What are chances of successes..? Can they lived with me permantely.

As this seems to be complex process can you recommend me good lawyer for it

thanks again

Please start a new and separate thread for your particular question. But first read through other threads on the board.

First issues is you need to be an EU citizen.

Note that the UK is not very conveniently located for working part time in another EU member state. You might be able to do it if you live in northern Ireland and work in Ireland. Or fly or take Eurostar to Europe every week.
