Hi my name is Joseph,
i am an indian and working here in uk and an dependant with my wife. i am planning to go to Switzerland on July and i dunno do i require a vise or something inorder to go there.

Please help me with this

Anyone who ordinarily requires a Swiss visa (as Indians do) who has UK leave to remain valid for longer than 6 months can enter Switzerland without a visa - currently the only European country that offers such a privilege to holders of UK visas. Note that this does not include holders of UK tourist visas because they can only confer a maximum period of leave not exceeding 6 months, even if the validity of the visa itself is, say, for 2 or 5 years.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Hey,

I am also an Indian and i visited Swiss 10 days back along with my family (I am a WP holder and my family are dependents). I didn't take any swiss visa. Just a travel ticket will take you to Swiss !! But please keep a copy of your WP, Company Deputation letter and the Travel Insurance.

That is incorrect. All you need is your passport with the leave to remain sticker inside.

I am sorry that i missed out the important one namely the Passport !!

Apart from the passport, it is advisable (not necessary though) to carry the copy of the WP.

You may want to apply for a EHIC (European Health Card) which shows your entitlement to being treated medically if you have a problem during you trip. I believe if you are entitled to NHS services (e.g. because you are working here), then you are also entitled to apply for this. It is free to apply for and takes a few days to be processed.
