On 1st May my Egyptian husband's application has exceeded 6 months and ours should be a straightforward application (married 4 years/together 6 and I am a British Citizen born and raised here). The timeline is...
ILR Application 15th October 2012
Confirmation of application receipt 30/10/2012
Payment taken 01/11/2012
Biometric Enrolment Letter 04/12/2012
Biometrics don at post office 12/12/2012
Letter received requesting the same docs sent with original application to prove cohabitation and Data Access Request Form DAT1 from Police HQ which we paid £10 or on 15th February 2012
6 months passed on 1st May 2013 and despite being told you can't request an update until it's been 6 months, they still won't give us any update apart from to say it is not yet completed. My husband is Egyptian and lived and worked in Italy for 20 years with Indefinite leave to remain there but never applied for Italian citizenship which he was entitled to.
I have had to turn down a huge job that involved International travel as they are still holding my British passport hostage and he has also had to turn down work for an exhibition company he does work for each year. It's no wonder the UK economy is in such a state.
He is also 68 years old and entitled to the state pension that he contributed to in Italy for 20 years while working there, but he cannot even transfer that to the UK until he gets his ILR.
We are both very worried and stressed at having to put our lives on hold in this way and to not be given any information at all after such a long period. The attitude of the UK Border Agency is horrible. I have complained to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
Any comfort or advice gratefully received? Has anyone else had to wait this long and then got the ILR ok?

Thanks for the reply PR2013! Would you also say your application is /should be straightforward?
We did my husband's initial spouse visa for Leave to Remain at the Worldbridge office in Rome as we were living in Italy. Worldbridge are a private sector operation and we had the visa and all documents returned to us within 3 weeks.
I saw on these boards that others ha applied recently in Feb 2013 and they have already received their ILR so if as they say the cases are handled in date order, how can they be getting theirs before ours if ours is just a straightforward case?
This is what worries me

I have a query with my ILR SET(O) application that was posted on 28th March 2013.
I recently got a letter from HMRC saying that I have been penalised for £1600 for not filing my self-assessment tax returns for the past 3 years. I have been employed in permanent employment and was never self-employed. So, I stopped filing self-assessment 3 years ago, after reading and having been spoken with some of my friends. I gather I dont fall under self-assessment as my tax has been deducted at source(TDS).
I have called HMRC and explained the situation, they said they'll investigate my case and get back to me within 4-5 weeks.
Do you think this will cause any issue with my ILR application? Is there anyone in similar situation? Please advise. My question may not make sense here, but I am asking as I guess HMRC is the first point of contact for any background verification UKBA do.
Can I send any extra documentation while my application is still under progress? For ex, if I get any letters from HMRC, can I fwd them to UKBA?

Thanks crossbow
Not really sure if they are improving....
But my company solicitors had applied for me, and the timeline they gave me was spot on.
After my Biometrics, they informed me, that in 4 weeks you should get a response and here I go...
Whether I was the lucky one or things are really improving...will need to see how other go on with it...

Please find below the links for various timelines and the procedure to deal with the spread sheet.
I've used a few members details on it as a sample.
How do I put application timeline on skydrive?
Skydrive for ILR Excluding 10/14 Yrs
Skydrive for FLR(M)
Skydrive for Naturalization
Skydrive for British Passport
1. You need a Skydrive ID (Hotmail/MSN/Existing Email)
2. Click Edit Workbook Menu
3. Select Edit in Excel Web App
4. Just add your details to the bottom of the table
5. Once done Click View and select Reading View.
NB: Do not insert any rows in between as this could affect the graphs to the right. Once you've added your details to the bottom of the table, the table can be sorted by "Application Sent Date" (Column B) Ascending and then by "Passport Returned"(Column G) Ascending.

Great Effort... Can i ask to add application categories like [ Set(M), Set(O) for WP holder and Set(O) for Tier1), All these types of categories have different time lines so if we categories it is easy to for people to compare the timeline in same category.
Thanks

Good thought, But I'am bit adamant on this as there are way too many types of application. Most of them we might've not even heard/read off.
I'd have thought to use the comments column for this. Lets see what others think.

For meanwhile i have update the comments filed with the application category for all the entries except 1, i get this information from the post of relevant user. Can I request all who are waiting please submit your timelines?
Also it would be best if we could post these links somewhere in sticky notes area so that this is accessible for every one easily

@kittylitter
I also waited for over nine months before I received my
ILR (set m) It was just nine months of waiting, wondering, thinking of
The worse, I would start my day full of hope only to end up
Disappointed... Then I just kept praying and remained hopeful
Cos that was all I could do instead of worrying which achieves nothing
The fact is that there is little or nothing we can do about the wait
The day I received it i couldn't believe it. It was a miracle.. .
My advice is Try and be positive, it will be alright. All the best

This is an excellent spreadsheet, or it was, someone has somehow deleted some rows from the ILR Excluding 10/14 Yrs, which has also meant some months are now missing from the summary on the right.

From the spreadsheet I can see only Tier1 Application are pending. All the WP and Set M application are being processed fast. Not sure what UKBA is looking in tier 1 applicaiton or why they are taking so long??????/

Good effort collating the spreadsheet. Out of interest, am I the only one still waiting since August 2012? I can only see my application from August. May be UKBA have managed to complete 99.9% applications then. I will be finishing 9 months in a weeks time. Still waiting. Mixed emotions now, mostly disappointed though

The times below are for my mother's application, it was sent along with my application as a dependent. I got my ILR approved in Jan 2013, but my mother's application was delayed.
She has been living with me on a work permit dependent visa.
Application type: Set O
Application sent: Sep 11th, 2012
Biometrics Enrollment: Apr 20th, 2013
Approval and Documents Returned: May 14th, 2013
BRP: To be sent within 7 days

Hi everyone, here is my dateline:
21/09/12- Applied for ILR under postal SET (O) Self Employed Lawyer category 5 year route
25/09/12- Application receipt acknowledgement letter issued
26/11/12- Biometric enrolment letter issued
29/11/12- Biometric enrolled
09/05/13- ILR Granted (received by me on 13/05/13)
Awaiting for Biometric Card
---------
Just to inform you that under the 'self employed lawyer' category, only 20 applications were made in 2012. It was a concessionary category, which has been closed.
The wait is rather frustrating, especially in the first couple of months, but I guess one has to carry on with life.... I did write to my MP three times and it was acknowledged by him. I also obtained a 'Subject Access Report' from UKBA by paying them £10. This is the file held by Home Office on all the info they hold about you, so its good to have it, to know what they are looking at. Also, it could be handy in case your case is rejected.
Good luck!
