can they cancel my F-1 visa if I fail to renew it...

Hi, I'm graduating this May and my F-1 visa is until August 4. I want to work on another bachelor's degree next year.
I will go home in the summer in June and will try to renew my visa some time in July?
However, in case they deny to renew it, can they cancel it?

.

If it is not "renewed," that is not a "cancellation." It "expires." A cancellation would be to invalidate the visa prior to its expiration.

It means your visa expires on its expiration date and you are not allowed to be in the country legally after that expiration date until you obtain another visa.

I'm not entirely certain if you can re-qualify for a visa for a second bachelor's degree ... but I suppose it is possible. You might want to make sure about that. To extend your student visa, you may be faced with being in an advanced degree program, or there may be some special consideration/qualification if taking another bachelor's.

I honestly don't know .. but it would be an immigration loophole that might be closed, or else people could be students for 40 years by taking ten bachelor's degrees.

Just a caution if this is the strategy you are planning on.

I think you are asking if your visa is a multiple-entry visa until its expiration .. and you should already know that answer. Unless you have given the government a reason to cancel your visa prior to its expiration, it should remain valid.

However, caveat: The conditions of a visa are that the government may cancel it at any time for just about any reason and, in some cases, for no reason.

So, it seems you will come back to the U.S. in July and try to renew/extend your visa? It would be best if you are able to start the application process before you leave the country .. it could take more than a month.

Meaning, even if they agree to extend it/ issue a new one, on 04 August you had better not be in the U.S. until/unless you have valid visa, or else you will become an overstayer and the difficulties will become dramatically more serious.

Thank you for your reply

The only reason I try to renew it because I want to go home to visit the next summer (2008). This is not my first time I go home though. I go home every summer and renew it everytime since they only give 1-year visa at a time for my country.

I guess my best option for me is just go home in May, stay until July then come back to America without trying to renew it for one more year.

Do you think they will let me go through port of entry? My I-20 is valid 'til 2008.
