OK, you're insinuating that the INIS staff members are xenophobes then? Admit it
No I dont. That would still mean that I think they are dearly beloved, which I didnt mean to say. A xenophobe is a dearly beloved in my eyes. You should remember, that people here are not talking face to face + is english not our first language so it is very easy to mistake someones post. What I have posted first was just out of anger. But I have told myself to just forget about it and if he gets approved this year - great, if not there is nothing we can do about it.
Great comment. Keep up the positive attitude :)

Any advice on first time passport application? I note the guidelines on passport.ie, anything else that needs to be taken into account? Also, I assume I will get original documents back right?

one my friend who applied on 1st week of Jul'12 got approval on last Friday. So i think INIS is started to sent approval letter again.

I applied on 2nd week of July'12 and now my application is at advanced stage of processing.

Anyone else from November 2011 or before that still waiting.. getting so tired of the this waiting game?

I sent them an email asking about an update. They said that my application was received September 2012, but they do acknowledge it was originally submitted in November 2011.. what on earth does that mean? :S

It simply means its been processed with a view to establish if you meet the residency and naturalisation requirements

A Question on contacting INIS for Updates

Post by Mimmi2003 » Tue May 14, 2013 4:38 pm

Dear reserve_blade, thanks so much for your kind response to my query over at the Citizenship Time-line Tracker 2013. It is so kind of you to take your precious time to explain all the details to me. I am very grateful indeed! I am wondering though, will INIS find it annoying if I email them seeking update at this stage already?

Dear IntegratedMigrant, I have often found your explanations very insightful and full of hope. I will be glad and grateful if you have any suggestions too about emailng INIS officially asking for updates even at 4th or 5th month of application.

I highly recommend you to do that. You should every month email the INIS for an update in your citizenship application. Just make sure its been 6 months since you applied before emailing them on a monthly basis.

An OP suggested that you have to keep it professional, and that is highly recommended by me as well.

Thanks for the compliment by the way :D

no problem, glad to share my experience.

If you email them non-stop, they will :D

Once a month (in a formal email) is reasonable I think.

I'm looking forward for both of us to get approval soon.

Keep praying! God bless!

Dear IntegratedMigrant,

Today We've received a reply from the dept., stating that my wife's application is at an 'advanced stage' and waiting for the Minister's decsion!

How long does it take to get an approval from the time of the 'advanced stage', any idea(s)?

Please share your expertise..

It could take anytime from now until 3 months time in normal circumstance.

A decision on your wife's application will be made before next ceremony date and she may probably attend the next ceremony depending on how lucky she is really.

It wont be long now for a decision to be made! Best of luck

Im glad finally people arent complaining about the backlogs anymore. There is hardly a backlog now and citizenship applications are been prosessed faster than normal nowadays.

Per prediction if Alan Shatter is still in office, in 2014 there will be no backlog at all and applications will be decided as expeditious as possible. Decisions will be made in about 6 months time or less for non complex cases. Best of luck everyone.

Not sure how realistic this calculation is, but looks really good:

- When minister came to office there were 22000 applications waiting for decision. This was March 2011.
- In 2011 there 18000 applications in total, so 18000/12=1500 per month. Since April 2011, 1500x9=13500 applications
- In 2012 there were 20000 applications
- In 2013 (till May) let's assume there are 20000/12=1600, then till May 1600x4=6400 applications

So if we sum upp all these, 22000+ 13500 (2011) + 20000 (2012) + 6400 (2013) = 62000 applications

In Minister's speech he said he approved 53000 since he took over, so 62000 - 53000=9000 applications waiting for decision at the moment

He said he approved 15000 this year in 4 months.

So in 4 months, there will be 1600x4=6400 more applications

9000+6400=15400 applications waiting for decision in September. If Minister still approves 15000 applications like he did this year, 15400 - 15000=400 there will be no backlog in September!!

Please let me know if I'm missing something here

Per your presumption I think it was spot on really. Nothing for me to add there.

In the next coming few weeks I'll try myself to calculate the applications and decisions more precisely. Well done to ya eternitate1903

I dont know their cases and thus couldnt predict when a decision will be made on their application. But I can predict this, by the end of the year every complex cases will be decided upon as there wont be any backlogs anymore!. All applications at that time will be decided as expeditious as possible.

An INIS Staff member (Citizenship Ceremony Team) personally told me that the next ceremony will be next month! :o .
I really dont know if his source is right, but it makes sense since a lot of approved candidates is waiting for next ceremony. Hope for the best
