My brother-in-law and his spouse applied to the British Embassy in Fiji for a visitors visa to the UK. The purpose of their visit is to attend my daughters wedding in July. I sent a letter of sponsorship advising that I would be responsible for their living expenses and provide accomodation whilst in the UK. I also provided a wedding invitation, bank statements, etc. in support of their application. I am told that they also provided details of their finances.
Now the only difference, was that I stated on my sponsor letter that their stay would be up to three months. However, their circumstances have changed and they can only stay for one month, and that is what they put on their application form.
The visa application has been rejected on the basis that they did not provided details of their finances, contrary to what I'm told, and the discrepency in the length of stay.
What I can't get my head around is that the application was submitted in Fiji, and they were told that it would be processed in Manila, Philippines. The application rejection notification has Manila typed in the reference, but is not signed, only two typed initials.
My questions are:
1. Where are visa applications processed if submitted at the British Embassy, Fiji?
2. Is there any right of appeal?
3. Would UK Immigration be able to advise as to process the application in the Philippines who are not even in the Commonwealth, when Australia and New Zealand are on Fiji's doorstep.
TIA
