THE BIG FEE INCREASE

Post by tvt » Thu Sep 09, 2004 11:59 am

Charges for foreign nationals working in the UK who need to extend their stay (eg work permit holders) may increase from £121 to between £265 and £300. Also leave to remain fees for those who need to extend their stay in the UK, such as students and spouses, may rise from £250 for a premium service to between £430 and £495.
Fees for the Sectors Based Scheme, which meets recruitment needs in hospitality and food processing, may rise from £153 to between £230 and £270;
Highly Skilled Migrant Programme fees may rise from £150 to between £320 and £375;
Travel document fees for those who cannot get or use a passport from their own country could range from £25 to £270 depending on which type of document is applied for.

This link states that Fee will be /may be increased in April 2005.

Also its a Consultation Launched On Immigration Fee Increases not the actual increase have been made.

Guyz, do it before they put fee on appeal and other things.

Thanx tvt.

Afzal

Don't underestimate this HO statement. In the past, fee increses tended to be well above or at the upper range of the consultation. This statement does not deal with ILR fees.

I can see the fee increase (well potential increase) for new appliations but I'm not sure what the fees will be when I extend my HSMP Visa ?

IMHO I see no categorical link to the statement regarding a non increase for ILR. After all one could be extending their stay indefinitley and it could be argued that they are the ones who get the best immigration benefit so should pay the most. Short of issues around dual nationality and complications thereof I fail to see why an ILR holder would not naturalise - its cheaper in the long term and as immigration law is amended offers the best protection of remaining in the UK.
