Residence Card Return to UK Passport expiry date

Post by city2011 » Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:34 pm

Hi
My eea Family member needs to urgently travel to his home country. Is there some Regulation on how Long the Passport still needs to be valid at the minimum in Order to Enter / Return to the uk? I believe there is something like that when you travel to Schengen.

The Passport expires end of September can he Return to UK from his home Country any time before the expiry Date or is there a Minimum of three months or so validity?

Thanks!

Normally many Western Countries require minimum of six months

Normally this true but this is not a normal case.

As long as the passport is valid (even on its last day), you should be able to travel. A better option would probably be to apply for a new passport while he visits his home country and travel with both (new and old) passports. The expiry of the passport doesn't invalidate the RC.

A valid passport with any length of expiry days left on it should be fine. Refer to "entering the uk":
