Visitor Visa for Parents

Post by Ashekt » Fri Apr 27, 2007 8:43 am

I have a query with reagrds to the visitor visa for my parents. I am here in UK on HSMP and have also obtained my FLR till 2010. As my parents are interested in visting us for some time, can somebody share with me their experience if they have been in a similar situation.

I have bought a flat in London and can show that as the accomodation where they will be staying and also earn enough to take care of their expenses (provide Salary Slips and Bank Statements). I will send all the required papers from here which they will use to get the visa.

Is that sufficient or do we require any other documents/ details for obtaining the visa.

Include a sponsorship letter detailing where will your parents stay (very obvious) and state that you will be responsible for all expenses incurred.

docs you mentioned below will be enough

Thanks for the prompt reply. Is there any specific format for sponsership letter or we can just draw up a letter addressed to British Embassy stating the accomodation and expense bearing facts.

Any idea for how long is the visitor's visa given as I am planning to book tickets for them in advace to secure some good deal."

Send email to the VFS center near to yoru home town in india. They will send you the list of documents that are required,
Write simple letter and send all original documents as supporting proof.
only photocopy allowed is of passport.

Your parents better apply for 5 year visa. Then they may have chance to get 1 or 2 year visa.

Below was the format that I used. ALso your parents have to show strong reasons for them to come back ( pension stc show). ALso If your siblings live back home. Then they have much better chance of getting visa.

Thanks Vidya and Simar for your replies. That was indeed very helpful.

Simar, further to your answer, if I have a visa till 2010, do you think that marking the option of 5 years make sense. I would be happy to get a longer duration visa for them as it would save time and money of getting the visa again and again.

Also I have these questions:

1. I have to clarify that the mail sent to VFS will be to obtain the list of documents. I did not understood that the original documents apart from Passport has to be given to VFS or British High commission?

2. How simple is the visa process, should they submit the application directly or go thorough some agent?

3. Will they have to go to the Embasy for the interview?

4. As I will be getting the tickets for then soon and they will be staying for arnd 4 months, then it does not make sense to show the booked tickets for 4 months and ask visa for 2 years or is it still fine?

As they are both is Govt. jobs they can show a letter from thier offices showing the approval of leaves.

Ans:> Well I tell exactly the same to my father. Dads please tick only less than 4 year option. Well he makes decision to tick 5 year option in visa application form -). By parents got 2 year multiple entry visas. So choice is yours.

Also I have these questions:

1. I have to clarify that the mail sent to VFS will be to obtain the list of documents. I did not understood that the original documents apart from Passport has to be given to VFS or British High commission?

Ans ..>The e-mail you can sent to VFS As list of document that I have supplied are already in letter format.
The original documents you will post with cover letter to your HOME in India. Then your parents will fill visa form and give supporting document of thier status ( govt letters etc) plus yours status( the documents that you have sent them)

2. How simple is the visa process, should they submit the application directly or go thorough some agent?

Ans.> Choice is again yours.

3. Will they have to go to the Embassy for the interview?

Ans.> Once application submitted to VFS. Then next day result can have three possibilities. As you yourself must be knowing while getting hsmp visa ( ACCEPT, REJECT or INTERVIEW)

4. As I will be getting the tickets for then soon and they will be staying for arnd 4 months, then it does not make sense to show the booked tickets for 4 months and ask visa for 2 years or is it still fine?

Ans. >I am not sure how will they get tickets without showing visa to ticket selling agent. But Yeah, it make no sense to show tickets

As they are both is Govt. jobs they can show a letter from thier offices showing the approval of leaves.[/quote]

Ans..> No Objection Certificate may also be required to go out of country as they are active Govt employee. I am sure they should have no problem in getting visa
