Citizenship Backlog Breakdown SOLVED

Post by IntegratedMigrant » Tue Jun 18, 2013 2:05 pm

There were 22,000 applications awaiting decision when Alan Shatter came into Office.

To date. more than 55,000 decisions on naturalisation applications have been made since Alan Shatter came into office.

The number of applications RECEIVED by year
2009: 15,700
2010: 12,500
2011: 18,300
2012: 19,900
2013: 7,700 (End of May)

The number of applications APPROVED by year
2009: 6,100
2010: 5,000
2011: 14,300
2012: 23,400
2013: 15,100 (End of May)

The number of applications DENIED or INELIGIBLE by year
2009: 7,800
2010: 3,100
2011: 1,800
2012: 1,600
2013: 400 (End of May)

In order to conclude 18,300 (2011) + 19,900 (2012) = 38,200

38,200 + 22,000 (Awaiting decision when he came into office) = 60,200
60,200 - 55,000 (Decisions made since he came into office) = 5,200

5,200 applicants are currently waiting in excess of more than 6 months!

5,200 + 7,700 (2013 applications until the end of may) = 12,900 waiting overall.

Note: Running for a Mod :) :) Kidding

When do you predict the next ceremony will be? I presume sometime at mid September!

49. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will provide a breakdown in tabular form of the number of applications for naturalisation year on year from 2009; if he will provide a breakdown of applications processed, approved, refused and pending/under review; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Minister for Justice and Equality (Deputy Alan Shatter): The number of applications received for the years from 2009 to end May 2013 are as follows : 15,700, 12,500, 18,300, 19,900 and 7,700 respectively.

The number of applications approved for these years is 6,100, 5,000, 14,300, 23,400 and 15,100. Those refused or deemed ineligible amounted to 7800*, 3100, 1800, 1600 and 400 respectively.

When I came into office in March 2011 one of my immediate priorities was to address the large backlog of citizenship applications for naturalisation pending a decision that had built up over several years. At that time there were approximately 22,000 applications awaiting decision, many of which had been waiting for 2-3 years or longer.

Good job to the op for breaking it down and making it more understandable. The information can be found online
