UK Fiance Visa help!

Post by allyk12 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 9:26 pm

Hello

I'm new to the forums and although i've read a few posts i'm still needing some help on my situation.

I've been with my partner who is from Russia now for just over 4 years. We have been waiting for a few years now to apply for this and now that we are prepared to settle down, we realised how difficult this could be.

As the financial requirements state, a salary of £18,600 is needed to progress a Fiance visa. As it stands just now i am earning £12,750 which is a considerably lower amount. From what we have both read on the UKBA website no external help can be given however i have had the kind offer from my mother whereby we would not need to pay rent and council tax.

Obviously that isn't the long term goal, however i felt it may have been significant until i read that no external help would be considered.

I then read about the savings side of things and noticed that I would need savings of approximatley £33,000 (or more!)

I currently have savings of just £4,000 and being honest we wouldn't need half of that once we were settled.

To the point, is there anything we can both do to otherwise obtain a fiance visa? I noticed they also would not allow loans...being silly but checking, this would involved bank loans i assume?

Hopefully we can get some positive news from this. Very stresfull times

P.S.

I should probably add

My mother has also said she would gift me any shortfall i would have, for example she would gift £500 per month however i'm not sure how relevant that can/will be?

So - some more facts for you.

You would need savings of £30,625 to cover the shortfall (assuming no kids involved). That money would need to be in your account 6 months prior to the application.

The 'gift' money from your mother can't be counted as income - but it could be counted as savings. However, you'd have to wait 5 years for enough savings to build up at £500 a month!

So - your options are:

1) Earn more. Find another job and wait 6 months.
2) Use the Surinder Singh route (have a google - and the basics are here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23029195).

HTH.

Can my savings come from any other method? taking into account a bank loan isn't allowed, of course.

Many thanks for the advice on the Surinder Singh route, very helpful!

Well yes the savings can come from other methods but what are you thinking about?

Keep in mind that although it is only your income that is taken into account, savings can be in either name. But they must have been in the account for 6 months prior to the application.
