OCI Collection - Time limit to collect

Post by Usrnm3821 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 2:09 pm

Hi,

My OCI online status shows that

Document received At LONDON On 18-JUN-2013

This means that my OCI card is ready for collection. Now, I have to go to HCI london and submit my british passport and collect it on the same day along with OCI card.

So, until what time I have to collect my OCI? Is there any time limit before which I must visit HCI london to collect my OCI or I can go any time?

Please guide.

Thanks.

Thanks ban.s for taking time to answer. See below collection procedure

Applicants should obtain a token at token counter at the High Commission at the time of collection of OCI Card/visa. The following documents may be submitted at the token counter on a working day between 0830 to 1200 hrs only:

a) Print out of on-line status report

b) British, or Foreign Passport

c) PIO card (If holding)/ OCI card [Where transfer to new passport is involved]

d) Applicants for miscellaneous OCI services should submit old OCI Card and old Passport for cancellation at the time of collection of new OCI documents.

OCI cards/visa will be ready for collection same day between 4.30pm and 5.00pm only. If the applicants are unable to collect OCI documents in person, they can receive them by post. Couriers/Agents are not allowed to submit/collect documents at the OCI counter.

BY POST: For collecting OCI Certificate by Post, the applicant must send documents at (a), (b), (c), & (d) above, along with Special Delivery Self Addressed/stamped Envelope. When sending please address it to OCI Section by Special Delivery Post. High Commission will not be responsible for loss of documents sent by Post.

Note : If the passport sent by post for affixing of OCI Visa Card does not include a special delivery envelope, it will be returned along with the OCI Card by ordinary post only. The High Commission will not be responsible for loss or delay of the documents.

This does not state any time limit as such to collect OCI? that's why i raised this issue in the forum. Hope my point is clear.

on timeline topics the status of some of applicants has options like --

My status report is given below...
Date of acknowledgement - 7th June 2013
OCI Number is - xxxxxxxx
Document Printing Status - PROCESSED on 28th June 2013
Dispached From MOIA(OCI) New Delhi - on 2nd July 2013

Please clarify as you have gone throug this process. I was worried about photo specification. Hope they have gone through.

There is no such timeline as such. HCI will retain your OCI booklet until you arrange collection. However you should collect within reasonable timeframe (i would say 90 days) cause they will not retain indefinitely.
