EEA2 Holder seeking university but once overstayed..

Post by okiechron » Thu Jul 04, 2013 3:05 am

Hi everyone

Could really use some advice on this, I am a nonEEA national married to an EU national. I came into the country as a working holiday maker in May 2007 with a two year visa however after that expired I overstayed for three years {yes, it was naughty and I'm not proud of it} Anyway I met my wife, we got married April 2012 and I received my 5year residence permit in Oct 2012.

I had always wanted to go to university so I applied to one and was accepted but on enrollment day they demanded I show proof of legal residence for the past three years which of course I did not have and they refused to enroll me.

I have not given up on going to uni but I don't want to have to wait three years to apply just so I can be enrolled. I do not understand why a student visa holder can enter the country yesterday and be admitted while I would not despite my freedom to live and work.

Is there any solution to this deadlock? Is there a way I can be considered for university if say I admit that I overstayed to the UKBA?

Please help :(
