Suggestion needed for early extension

Post by params0073 » Fri Jul 05, 2013 10:13 am

Hi All,
I need a small suggestion. I got my initial visa on 30 March 2009 valid up to 15 April 2012 but I entered UK on 23 Jan 2010(nearly 9 months 23 days later). So I applied for my 1st extension around April 2012 and got extension up to April 2014(as I had to cover the initial gap).

Now because of rule changing nearly everyday I am thinking of apply for my second extension in August 2013.

Do you think any downside to this?

Thanks
Param

So you will be eligible for ILR in Jan of 2015.

Early extension in Aug 2013, will give time until Aug 2015, so in my personal opinion, no downside.

On the other hand, extension in April 2014 will give you time until April 2016, that just gives you a lot of additional time on your visa.

The advantage of doing the early extension is in anticipation of any visa fee hike, if it were to happen? I don't see any other rule changes that have happened.

In my opinion, doesn't appear like there would be any downside.

Thanks for the comment mate.’ Fee increase' that’s what I am worried about so I think it’s wise to apply for extension. Also I am not sure they might pass the bill about the NHS charges so to be on safe side better to apply.

It might also take longer to process if you apply early. I'm not sure if they process them in order of current visa expiry date, or in the order they received them. Others might be able to advise further.
