Questions about referees

Post by citizenapp2013 » Mon Jul 08, 2013 2:46 pm

Dear all,

I have been watching this forum silently over the months, and it has been a great help. I will thank in advance and appreciate if anyone can answer.

I have 2+3 years HSMP and then ILR and now due for BC soon

Sorry, if these questions have been answered before:-

1. With the referee, I know one has to be professional, I got my dentist to sign.

2. With the other referee, Can it be again one of the professional. e.g. my IT/Development manager? I do not remember his exact designation but say any of these designation will be applicable, Development manager or IT Manager?

3. If yes, I asked him to sign, what he should write in the box. How does he know me? Friend or Colleague or anything else which is appropriate?

4. Does he must need to write the British passport number if any or it is not compulsary?

Thanks

Could you please read the form and guidance AN and try to use common sense.

There is not an official documented Q & A to give "exact answers ".

Whoever is going to tell you anything here is just going to read the info already on UKBA website and use their common sense before replying.

So, since you are applying, it will be a good idea if you use your own common sense.

Come on, I am sure you are an educated person. You do not need to ask this kind of childish questions. You can work it out yourselves.

It says in guidance

Once referee should be a person of any nationality who has professional standing.

The other referee must be a holder of British Citizen passport and either a professional person or over the age of 25 years.

Which part of the above are you struggling to understand?

Use the dictionary to find out the meaning of words "any" "and" "either" "or" "over".

So,

1. Can Development Manager or IT Manager sign? are they qualified for referee? .

2. Do they need to provide British passport number as compulsary elements? Reason I am asking, my IT manager did not fill that information and I need to go back to him to ask him if this is the case

Please reply

The other referee must be a holder of British Citizen passport and either a professional person or over the age of 25 years.

(They can either write their passport number or just write "available on request")

So, with my minimum grasp of english language, what I can work out is that a British passport holder who is less than 25 years of age but a professional can sign.

or

Any British passport holder who is over the age of 25 years can sign. If a British passport holder is over the age of 25 years, then he can either be a beggar or prime minister or anything in between.

I am thinking about starting a 3 years course to teach migrants the meaning of few words like "if" "any" "either" "or" "before" "after" "on"

I was about to post a new post regarding this, my referee who is a british citizen has not filled in passport number and has now gone on holiday and I have NCS appointment this Thursday. I have read chapter 6.3.7.9 where it says that it can be written "details available on request", however its not clear whether it only applies to professional referee or for general citizen referee as well. My professional referee is not British Citizen hence his passport no. is not written. Will this be a problem if BC referee does not write his passport number?

A senior member has posted reply while I was posting as well. Thanks, however the wording of chapter 6.3.7.9 are bit confusing.

"6.3.7.9 Those acting in a professional capacity may not wish to provide their
personal details. In such cases, we would be content for the person acting as a referee to put his or her business contact details. In addition, if the person does not wish their passport details to be seen by the person applying for citizenship, they can omit this from the form, entering “details available on request”.

Hope this helps.

No Question is a Dumb Question.

Teaching needs lot of patience Ayubbi. With this attitude of yours, you will be kicked out sooner or later:). No offence, and I got my answers. so chill and thanks mate
