Urgent Help Needed

Post by natss » Tue May 08, 2007 12:56 pm

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm South African married to Swiss national, we're both living and working in the UK. My 5 year residency permit comes to an end in 2 months and I'm unsure what form I need to apply under for Indefinate Leave to Remain. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Many thanks in advance for your help

Here's a link to the EEA4 form, which is the permanent residence application for non-EU family members of EU citizens.

And here's the link to where I found it :)

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much, does that give me ILR or just extend my residency for another 5 years?

Permanent Residency is the same as Indefinite Leave

So sorry about this: I've just thought of another 2 questions

There's nothing on the application form regarding fees. Am I right in assuming the application is free for me?

Also, do I still have to take the life in the uk test?

Cheers, promise thats the last of my questions

All EU application forms are free, so you don't have to pay any fees.
If I remember correctly, you do not have to take the Life in the UK test prior to applying for permanent residence. However, if you plan to apply for British citizenship once you are eligible, you will have to take the test before submitting a citizenship application.

Natts, all EEA related applications are free of charge :)

And yes, you do have to do 'Life in UK' test if you want to become a British citizen. :(
