Parent DOB for British Passport - Urgent

I am applying for my first British Passport.

My father passed away and I only know his year of birth and not aware of day and month.

Do I need to put 00-00-1951 or leave it blank --/--/1951.

Do I need to write a letter along with my application to passport office and address this issue.

from your previous posts it appears you have received BC through naturalisation. what did you mention in your AN form?
use the same thing here.
leaving blank should not be any issue though.

When my wife apply for her first british passport she did not know her late father date of birth so what she did she just enter any date and she got her british passport without any issue.In ur case just enter like 12/12/1951 or any other date but dnt leave it blank there wil be no issue at all .My advice is out of experince ur case may be different . I wish u the best.

In my Naturalization application I have put 00/00/1951 .

Also I am not aware of my parent marriage date . Can I leave that blank.

Can I write a letter to passport office and explain to them that I am not aware of these dates.

Which option is better for me.

DOB use 00/00/1951 and marriage date leave blank - you don't need to write any letter.
these details are relevant to people that are are claiming British citizenship through their parents.

I called HM passport office and one person in customer service asked me to send a letter and send person asked me there is no need to send a letter and pur 00-00-1951 as father DOB .

I don't know which option I need to take in my application form.

it's entirely your choice whether you want to include a letter or not.

neither the letter will add any value nor its absence weaken your application.

you'll receive British Passport on the basis of your naturalisation certificate and your parents DOB has no importance here.

if you have still doubt - include a letter - atleast it'll give you peace of mind.

Further to add - if you apply through PO check and send, you might receive a different advice from the PO staff.

Instead of a separate letter, you can also use section 8 and mention 'Father's DOB not known'

try a different post office or directly post the application yourself.
