How to submit a claim to SOLVIT

Post by virtual-writer » Fri May 11, 2007 4:15 pm

I thought the submission of a claim to SOLVIT would be a straight-forward thing. Now it appears that one should be able to submit it to a specific centre in one of the various countries.

All I did was fill in the boxes and answer the questions in the online form to the best of my knowledge, but when I contacted them and subsequently was phoned up by them, I was told that maybe I should complain to the SOLVIT centre in my home country instead, since it is a third country's authorities I am complaining about! So, she will reject my case.

I don't get this, we live in the UK, I never intended the complaint to be agaist the UK (how on earth did that happen?), the complaint is against the French Embassy in London (possibly the Ministere des Affaires Etrangeres in France), not against my home country either (so why complain to them?).

Any ideas or advice?

Ok, just spoke to SOLVIT again.

A complaint is automatically lodged in the country you reside. They can't take it becasue UK ain't part of the Schengen agreement, so they wouldn't understand that stuff well enough to take it up with the French authorities.
