Eligibility to apply for naturalization after 10 yr ILR

Post by Zim1 » Sat Aug 03, 2013 9:01 pm

Hi Guys,

Just wondered when is the right time for me to apply for naturalization after my 10 yr ILR. I applied for my ILR in September 2012 and it was approved in May 2013. Is it true I start counting the 12 months, 3 months after my ILR application .i.e. in my case from January 2013 therefore eligible to apply in January 2014?
Can someone please shed light on this for me or provide a UKBA link where I can see get this information.

Many thanks,

Z1

This should have been posted in the British Citizenship forum.

Providing your ILR was protracted (delayed) at no fault of your own you may be able to naturalise after 15 months from the date of your ILR application subject to meeting the other standard requirements. If you're the spouse or civil partner of a British Citizen then you may be able to apply straight away.

Many thanks Guru and apologies for posting in wrong forum. There was no issue with my application at all and delay was just due to UKBA inefficiencies.

Thanks,
