You need to apply for an extension on form FLR(M). However, you will have to pass the A1 English test for this.
Here's the link to the guide:

In two weeks you should be able to read the whole book and take the test, be reminded that there is a further English Language requirement from October 28 2013 for settlement. An extension on flr(m) would be under the old rules in which there is no financial requirement per se.

FLR(M) under the
old rules.
Evidence of co-habitation required.

Here (click) at page 44 or 12C for flr(m) and set(m) you need one joint letter or a letter each for roughly every 4 months over the 2 year period from a total of at least 3 different sources.

another question... I want to be clear on the details of proof of Maintenance or what financial rule applies. Before, we needed either 3 month of either PAYMENT SLIP or BANK STATEMENTS showing the salary been paid.... since the financial requirement in FM.SE is not applicable, what evidence would i be needing?
3 month bank statement ?
6 month bank statement ?
3 month bank statement and slip?
6 month bank statement and slip?

If the documents are in joint names and cover roughly every 4 months then they should suffice. They should have the date and address clearly on.

Tenancy agreement Dec 2011
Bank statement April/ may 2012
Tenancy agreement(diff address) Aug 2012
Bank statement Jan 2013
tenancy agreement April 2013

A very similar query. If someone is on spouse visa, and wants to extend it for whatever reason after Oct 28th, will they need A1 or B1 english?
When this person applied for spouse visa outside UK, they passed and presented A1 level qualification.

The new requirement applies to settlement and naturalisation not limited leave to remain i.e. an extension.

Two months ago, British Council in Tunis told me that from Oct 28th, the level of english required for spouse visa will be B1, not A1.

You'll have to post a link for that as hearsay is often misleading.

Yes correct. I just believed it because it came from British council. There seems to be no mention of this anywhere else.
