CAN SPONSER CLAIM JOB SEEKER'S

Post by ashaboo » Mon Aug 19, 2013 10:09 pm

HI I know this question must have been asked quite a few times vut I really need some advice and wiuld appreciate it. It has been 10 months since my husband has come to the UK. I called him over in spouse visa I was working then now I am unemployed. I was wondering can I claim job seekers. First I was unsure but I filled in my cliam application form online and have got a interview tomorrow at jib centre. WILL IT AFFECT MY HUSBANDS VISA? He is working finally with minimum wage first he had a few jobs with reli less money below minimum wage and long hours. I wna claim job seekers because I want abit of saving before we move out from my mams to rent a property. I am looking for work.. any advice and help will be appreciated.

This should be in the benefits forum. I assume you are settled/granted ILR.

You can claim Job Seeker's Allowance, however, ensure you are paid only a single persons amount. It will likely be Contribution Based for the first 6 months which is non means tested.
