Back from the ceremony great experience very well organised. Minister said 70% applications are being processed in 6 months time some applications take longer than 6 months due to the nature of the background of the applicant and he is going to legislate some reforms of citizenship(don't know what) so that there is some legal representation(don't ask me what). Apart from that usual stuff.

Hi Friends,

I just wonder, in the application form for naturalization, 3 Irish references:
- Can I just type the information of 3 Irish References and let them sign it or I should let them fill in by themselves ?

- For the 5 years reckonable residency, do we need to be in Ireland physically for 5 years ?

Thank you very much.

Let them fill it in themselves and note, it has to be in Black Pen and Bold Letters.

No you dont as long as you have a residence in Ireland for 5 years that is all that matters. The only twist there is that must have a continuous residence in Ireland for one year prior to the date of your application. In other words, make sure that there is no gap in your Stamp dating 1 year ago prior to your application.

@IntegratedMigrant: Thanks alot for your answers.

I would like to have some more questions:

+ For the 5 years of reckonable residency: are they counted only based on the GNIB stamps on the Passport ?
On the website for residency calculator: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Na ... Calculator

In the box Stamp Type: I see some other stamps like: C,D,A. Not sure what are they ?

+ For the stamp by immigration officer at the airport when someone first landed in Ireland, this stamp usually allows 1 month to stay and suggest to register with local Garda station, is this stamp reckonable residency ?

Yes they are counted based on the GNIB stamps on the Passport but also depends if you have a written letter regarding your Stamp if there has been any issues.

You should select the Stamps that apply to you and disregard the ones that dont. And the Stamp that applies to your likes I presume are 1, 3 and 4.

Hey guys,

Is there a certain period that you have to submit the documents required and the 950 euro fee by? Or can you just send them in whenever you want? Planning to submit them next month seeing as I'm a bit short on cash at the moment due to summer holidays!

You can send them whenever you want as long as INIS did not indicate in the letter when they're expecting you to submit the documents.

No news yet but I am sure in the next few weeks we will know what's going on.

Would be nice if all of those at the advanced stage share it here so we could keep track of what's happening really
