Previous earnings

Post by saratbabu07 » Wed May 23, 2007 2:27 pm

Dear All,

I am in my final stage of applying for the HSMP and had a question for you;
1) Can i claim from April, 2006 to April, 2007 (May, 2006 exempted), or is it necessary that we need to claim for continous 12 months.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Regards,
Sarat Babu

Per the guidance notes, it must be a continuous 12 month period. You can't use unconnected periods. It sounds like you want to use April 2006 by itself and the period of June 2006-April 2007?

I don't think the HO will accept that.

could you give us quotation from guidance notes about it , please?

as it says

We will assess your gross earnings before tax
over a total period of up to 12 months out of the
15 months immediately prior to your application.
The earnings can be for any 12 month period out
of the last 15 months.

Hmm, strange...I stand corrected! I swear I saw the word continuous in the guidance notes, but you are correct. The paragraph below is what the guidance notes currently say (I just looked) and according to that wording, it seems you can pick and choose which 12 months out of the 15 to include. However, I would double and triple check that you have a true 12 month period and not slightly more (even by a day or two).

Perhaps someone else can comment? I could have claimed more than I did! :D Although I don't think it would put me into the next income bracket.

To the original poster: it seems you *can* use the periods of April 2006 and June 2006-April 2007. I would explain that May is missing on purpose, just to be safe. I apologize for my mistake.

Thanks apeterso925 & ens.
I am not claiming the May, 2006 salary since there were 10 days Loss of Pay for that month the amount that i got as sal was too less.
