Yes, you need to evidence your finances, your income per week Net should equal or exceed the applicable amount of income support after deducting rent. Most benefits can be included.

Income support amount (A):

Couple = £112.55 per week
Child (each) = £65.62 per week

Rent (B):

What ever your rent is per week

Income (C):

This can be earnings, 3rd party support, capital (e.g. Savings) and benefits, including DLA, housing benefit, tax credits, carer's allowance and child benefit, but not council tax benefit.

C Net, should exceed A+B

For a couple and 3 children, A is £309.41 Net per week.

It may be advantageous if your husband signs an undertaking (form SU07/12) and writes /signs a letter stating that his income can be used to support the children.
