New English language requirement

Post by T1ilr » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:25 am

Hello Gurus and veterans,

I have just seen an update regarding English language requirement post 28th October, 2013.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... hip/kol-uk

I am seeing this doc for the first time which has replaced the intent doc published earlier. Looks like it is all the more clear now!!!

Any thoughts from seniors please!!

Thanks

I am on T1 (General) and applying for ILR this month. Does new rule mean I have to give English language test (ILETS or similar) for naturalisation?

If you already have a qualification at B1 level

''Applicants who already have an English language qualification at B1 level or above will not be
required to take another one. For example, someone who demonstrated a knowledge of English
equivalent to B1 level when applying for entry clearance will not be required to take a further test in
order to qualify settlement.''

Questions:

I provided ILETS certificate at the time of my entry clearance in 2004. Does the above statement means i don't have to provide any new English language certificate? I know its a stupid question but only thing made me ask this question is ''that test result is now expired and how an expired result is valid for a new application?

Do i have to still submit my old ILETS result with my ILR application?

My MBA degree was recognised by UK NARIC as bachelors. It was not on the point based calculator.

How did you satisfy the English level requirement at EC?

You can use the same to satisfy English language part if you are applying on and after 28th oct 2013. You still have to pass LIUK

I passed LIUK test few months ago. I believe new English language requirement doesn't affect T1 (G) applicants.

Certain cases will be more clear after 28 October 2013. I will bookmark this thread.

Hi ,

I have an Engineering degree from India and used that for English Language requirement for my Tier 1 application in 2009. Do I have to get a certificate from NARIC for my ILR application. Or since I already proved my English skills in my previous application Tier 1 , do I have to prove it again with all the documents mentioned - Letter from University, NARIC certificate etc ?
