YMS to Spousal (work query)

Post by thistlebeard » Sat Sep 14, 2013 3:09 pm

Hi,

I've spent a fair bit of time looking at previous posts about moving from a yms to FLR after getting married, but I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone might be able to answer for me?

For a bit of background, my soon to be wife is canadian and is currently on yms which expires mid june 2014. We'll have been together 4+ years by the time we plan to get married - april 2014 at the latest.

If we do get married in april, it's looking like there won't be a lot of time to get a premium service in croyden for a same decision. We both currently work in the same office, so my questions are thus:

1. As I understand it, she can apply by post and still remain in the country until a decision is made (even though her yms will expire) - is this correct?

2. If the above is true, is she still able to work while we await a decision?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Many Thanks,

vinny

Yes, provided she makes a valid in-time application.

Thanks Vinny - some pretty interesting reading from those links, do you think it's necessary to have a immigration lawyer look over the document before submission? The repercussions from the application getting classed as invalid seem pretty rough!!

Is it quite hard to get an appointment at Croydon for a spousal visa? I'm getting married in April but YMS expires May. I can't make an appointment until 6 weeks prior.

Also for the financial requirement I only earn £10,800 but I have £30000 in savings. Should I be ok? My fiancé is self employed so we'd rather not submit that as it gets too complicated.

Also, how can we prove our residence if its a part of my pay? Im a live in nanny. Separate house on their property. We live there and they pay all our utility bills (hence why I don't earn much!) Can we prove residence with bank statements?
