Hi Guys,

How would you track the collection of OCI by post?

I have seen some of you guys have put "receipt" by HCI etc.. But is it the same link as tracking OCI status?

Hi Guys,

I am planning to send my and my minor son OCI application by post to VFS.

My application:
1. Application form 'A' & 'B'
2. Applicaiton Fees paid by website
3. 1 photo with initial application
4. 1 Original Surrender certificate
5. Copies of British Passport
6. Copies of Naturalisation Certficate
7. Copy Marriage Certificate (Original is laminated on FRONT ONLY)

My Son Application:
1. Application form 'A' & 'B'
2. Applicaiton Fees paid by website
3. 1 photo with initial application
4. 1 Original Surrender certificate
5. Copies of British Passport
6. Copies of Naturalisation Certficate
7. Copy Birth tificate (Original is laminated on FRONT ONLY)

Question 1: Is listed all above documents in original or copy enough for application?
Question 2: Since item 7 is both LAMINATED, will HCI accept it? or shoudl I send just copy with self attested?

I am constantly checking the status on Online services for OCI website but just getting " no records found" message. Also tried to contact HCI via email but emails are bouncing back. No luck on the phone as well.

Has anyone applied for OCI during August 2013. I would really appreciate if anyone could be able advise or share experience.

I have the same problem having posted my OCI application by Special Delivery to HCI London on 23rd Sep '13 (it was received on 24th Sep '13, signature proof on Royalmail website).

A question. Is it the India passport number or British passport number to be used for checking on the OCI tracker site?

You don not need details of Indian Passports after you surrender it and all you need is your British Passport number to check OCI status!

You don not need details of Indian Passports after you surrender it and all you need is your British Passport number to check OCI status!

Thank you "NO1UKlover" for your advice. Using British Passport number I was able to get the status of my application. I was wondering if this has been mentioned anywhere on the HCI website or the applicants are supposed to (or expected to) make a good guess on this, anyways I now have collected the OCI cards. Postal application takes time. Please wait for atleast 3-4 weeks and it will start showing you "UNDER-PROCESS". To give you an example, mine was acknowledged on Sep 10. I sent the application on Aug 20.

The form says apply in duplicate however when I applied in PERSON in London - they returned me one of the forms and said that i only needed to submit one. I didnt argue anymore.

FAQ Q10 - What is the processing time of application?

Receiving of application would be acknowledged online only within 4 weeks from the date of receiving application in OCI Wing.

Went there at 7.40am and Que already there.... the left one is for Passport and PIO and the right one is for OCI.... There is third Que for Collection as well so please stand in a correct Que as between 7.30 am to 9.00 am, Que will be double. I got Token no 86 which is around half way. I have been told to come back at 12pm but have nothing to do so waited outside. I was not the only one though outside. Around 10.45am I tried to enter and allowed to go inside. I got my number around 12.15pm and finished in 3 minutes. All done and back at work in afternoon....

I think staff is not bad and they are doing their work. They have right (responsibly) to ask the questions and right documents so I suggest to carry all original with you.

Some people say.. they won't smile but if you smile they will. After all we only need to deal with one person there and they need to deal with lots people like us and you know how some of us behave.... so at the end they are also human as we and they can get angry if they need to explain again and again to the same person and only get rudeness behavior in return. Respect others and get respected.

ski2nikeeta . You need to wait till almost to same date next month. Say you posted on 4th Oct then prepare yourself to see an update and return of orginals on 04 Nov
