visa to france

Post by krysty_86 » Wed Jun 06, 2007 11:49 am

Hi,my husband is southafrican and he has a work permit visa in the UK. Will that be enough to fly to France?I'm from Spain, but the Spanish consulate don't give him a visa to France, and the French consulate say that the Spanish should do it..I don't know what to do, our flights are for the 14th of June...

Are you trying to get the Schengen visa for your husband to travel to France? If so, it is a common policy of the French Authorities that the citizens of Spain, Italy or Germany should apply for the Schengen visa in their respective embassies/counsulates which will inturn let them travel to any part of 'Schengenland'... or which Spain and France are one.

Any particular reason your husband is still on Workpermit visa and how long have you been married and living in the UK?

We got married the 17th of march, he lived here 2 months before the wedding and now we've been here for another 2 months. We both want to apply for residency, but we read on the internet that we have to be maried for 2 years so he can get the visa.

OK! krysty_86, both you and your partner better get reading about the relevant details as you don't have to wait 2 years to apply for the Residence Card using the EEA2 form. If you mean that you want your husband to apply for the Spouse visa as a 'settled' person here in the UK you should have been resident here in the UK for more than 5 years. Have you indeed been here that long? And if so what have you been doing during your time here?

Since he has only been here in the UK for a total of 4 months on the workpermit visa, applying for the Residence Card is a very good option for him. Please look more for the relevant information in http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/
