Due for ILR

Post by stevcal » Mon Sep 27, 2004 3:03 pm

Guys,
I am due for ILR (will be going to Crydon this week!). I have a number of issues which need clarification.

I first got my workpermit on 6th October 2000 for 1 year. Was renewed the following year (Sept 2001) for another year. Again extended for another year (i.e 2002 to 2003). After this I changed employers and there was a continuous transition to my current workpermit (started 1 October 2003). My current work permit expires in June 2005. Now here are the issues I have:

1. I misplaced my first workpermit (both original and copies) and I cannot find them. But I do have copies of the remaining work permits.

2. I have two kids ( 3year old and a 6 month old) but do not have passports for them. And I cannot have their names inserted in mum's passport (policy of my native country). Should I still include them in the ILR application?

3. My current job is a fixed contract job and my emploment letter says:

" This is to confirm that Dr A has been employed by (company name) as a full-time research associate on a fixed-term contract in the above dept since 1 october 2003. His contract is due to expire on 21 June 2005, with possibility of extension. If you require any further info, please do not hesitate to contact me"

Is this OK with the Home Office?

Thanking you in advance for your help.

1. You can include copies of your work permit stamps on your passport? These have the HO reference numbers which can be cross-referenced by them. If there are any queries you can explain to them that you have misplaced the first work permit papers.

2. Is it possible for you to apply for passports for your children from your country's local embassy? This is generally does not take much time. Once you have the passports you can include them in the application. That is what I would have done. I dont know how and if you can include dependents with no passports in your ILR application.

3. As long as you have completed 4 years on a WP it does not matter when your current contract expires. Plus you have almost another year to go on your current contract. That should not be a problem. Take your latest bank statements and wage slips along with you.

Thanks Mwazir for your useful suggestions.

I do have my old passport with all the stamps so I will show this if required.

As for the passports for the chidren, It would still take too long (from past experience) to process before my work permit expires. So I will have to do it (i.e apply for ILR for the kids) separately. I know I will have to pay again, but thats the only way I am afraid.

Thanks once again for you help. I will let you know how it goes!

Got ILR!

Went to Crydon yesterday. Although I had an appointment at 1 pm, I was called at 2.30 pm because they were running late. The documents that were asked for were the passports, the application form (obviously) and the payslips. The whole interview was done within 10 minutes. They told me to come back after 3 hours. I left the building at 6:15 pm.
I would like to thank you guys who run this servive. You are doing more help than you can ever realise.
Is there are a 'send your donations here' link somewhere on this website  ?
