Providing an apostilled copy of Civil Partnership Cert

I have noted that an Irish Embassy has asked married persons for an apostilled copy of their marriage certificate, showing that the marriage has been registered in the countries of origin of both parties.

I would like to ask if anyone has heard of this being required for a Civil Partnership Cert? My partner is Chinese and China doesn't recognize same-sex partnerships. If the Embassy in Beijing were to ask for this, what would I do? Just simply tell them that the CP isn't recognised in China? Is this basis for refusal of an Irish Spouse visa?

I know this to be common amongst the Schengen countries, never heard of an Irish embassy requesting this, where did you register your civil partnership? I will find it difficult to accept that it will be a reason for refusal, but one can't hold their breath when dealing with Irish officials.

You can expect any thing from Irish Immigration system. Out of the blue one man word will become the LAW.....

I love the UK immigration system , where every thing is so clearly defined, you know about DO's and DONT's.....

But GOD help these guys, who sit comfortably in the office and make people lives miserable....

You seems to know these guyz a lot lol, I almost got frustrated to death when I had to deal with these guyz

True, i know them very well, especially when you go through the EU treaty Rights section. I always give an example to my friends and associate DOJ with it.

Back in my home country, we have very good sugar cane crop every year and we crush the sugar cane to get the juice to drink and from the same juice we make home made sugar for the whole year (Excellent quality). So, the process is, When you stick the sugar cane to the crush machine, the hard bambo type thing is crushed in mins....Same is DOJ, who ever go through these guys, looks like a crushed sugar cane..... GOD help all of us....

God...that could cause big problems. I'll see if I can get any more info from the INIS about it. There is no way that the Chinese authorities will register a Civil Partnership!

Our CP was registered in the British Consulate in Vietnam (I'm a dual Irish/Brit national from Northern Ireland originally), but my partner will be applying at the Irish Embassy in Beijing.

Just got a reply from INIS saying that the CP cert doesn't need to be registered with the Chinese authorities (like that was gonna happen...) and that an apostille is only required when the validity/authenticity of the marriage/CP is questioned by the visa officer

Good for you chaoclive, in all my experience with them though, they have been usually quite fast with email responses.

Good to know! They're so much better than the UKBA, who take forever to apply to anything, even a simple query
