Previous Earnings Queries

Post by puv » Thu Jun 07, 2007 11:06 pm

hi,

I have moved to the london area from the US recently. I have decided to submit the HSMP application by end of this month. I will be greatful if you can help me clarify my doubts regarding Previous Earnings -

1. I have a soft copy of W2 - 2006 from my employer. Can I use it as one of the evidences along with the payslips and the bank statement ?
2. Can I pick and choose the 12 months out of the past 15 month period ?I am planning to use the 12 months period from - Mar 06 to Jan 07 (11 months and Mar 07 (12th month).
3. My W2 for 2006 covers Jan 06 to Dec 06. Can I submit the bank statements for the months in 2007 ? Do I need to request for exceptional consideration in such a case ?

I think I have a good understanding of other evidences except the above queries.

I will appreciate if you can please respond based on your experiences with this process.

Thanks,

P

Just to reiterate, the 12 month period should be continuous - you can cherry-pick any single continuous 12-month period within the last 15, but you can't cherry-pick individual months (otherwise, on the form, when it asks you to indicate the time period for which earnings are claimed, it will be more than 12 months). I read of a case that was declined because an applicant had a two- or three-month gap halfway through the 15 month period - and claimed all earnings in the six months before and the six months after the gap.

The tax return - I wonder whether you would have to get the online W2 form validated in the same way an online payslip would be validated?

Bank statements - since your tax return (for CY2006) won't cover the entire period being claimed anyway, you'll have to request exceptional consideration and submit all bank statements for the period claimed, not just for those months not included in the 2006 W2 (or employers' letters).

Evidence for previous earnings

Post by puv » Mon Jun 11, 2007 7:37 pm

Thanks Gordon and ball1333 for your replies..

I have one more query -

Can I submit my W2 and Bank Statements as the two evidences for the previous earnings ? in other words, is submitting the payslips mandatory ?

Thanks
