You cannot count time you have spent in the United Kingdom while exempt from immigration control as part of the residential qualifying period. If you are in the United Kingdom as a diplomat or as a member of visiting armed forces or if you are in any place of detention, you would be considered exempt from immigration control. This time would be treated as absence from the United Kingdom.

Its from ukba website
Please search in google annex b of immigration or BNA do not quote the standard UKBA requirements.
I dont know what and where you are reading. I am pasting a link for you here its a pdf file of about 41 pages. Start reading from begining if you want to understand else go to section 9 of the document which precisely talks about the topic and its sub clauses 8 (4) and 8 (3). Hope it would help you.

Please can we keep this thread for people to just post the dates of their applications and not fill it up with other discussion.

Please start a new thread to discuss this eligibility issue so this can keep clean as a reference (otherwise people checking for application dates have to wade through pages of this disucsssion).

Well, I guess a number of factors influence mainly the cases falling into September 2013 timelines that are awaiting to be allocated to 'case workers' or 'In Processing', also, I see that applications where payments were taken on 4th-October (Friday) had their approvals done by 22-October (which is last week) implying applications where payments were taken in week beginning 7-October(Monday) will be now in processing and already processed by end of this week. All these pointers imply that for applicants whose payments were taken in week beginning 21-October should have their approvals on or after 11th November, so we are sliding into 2nd week of November potentially.

Nothing to worry - payments can be taken in a 3-5 day window from the date transaction is done. If you see balance is dropped that means your bank has approved it and your bank is waiting for merchant (UKBA's finance dept I guess) to collect the money with in that window.

So chill your acknowledgement letter must be on its way!

has anybody heard Home office contacting the referees or contacting the applicant for any further queries? the reason I ask is , I am on vacation for the next 3 weeks , wont have access to post as well . i did put a note on the application saying I will be out of station and wish to be contacted on email, but I wonder if they really care the notes.

Not my referees though. I read somewhere in the documents I that they do random checks, on a case to case basis I guess

Please can we keep this thread for people to just post the dates of their applications and not fill it up with other discussion.

Please start a new thread to discuss this issue of whether or not referees will be contacted (or search, I think there are several on this issue already). This will help keep this thread clean as a reference (otherwise people checking for application dates have to wade through pages of this disucsssion), and will also make it easier for anyone with the same question to find (ie someone comes later with the same question about referees - if it has its own topic it will be easier to find).

Please, we are all waiting to hear our applications - lets keep this space just for updates on applications in the standard format so we can track when to expect the money taken.

For all other discussions and questions, please make a new topic.

Keep calm and carry on. I applied via NCS on the 10th Oct still no fees taken. HO is dealing with an influx of applications due to recent changes so I am not worried......sooner or later it will happen.

Firstly if you mentioned in your application about your out of station you should be okay. Secondly, they will give enough time (3 weeks)for you to respond just in case.

There was an applicant whose application was on 9th and got call from HO last Friday (please check the post on 25th)

asadkhan71 and akhan25 there is no need to be upset, I was only directing you to asadkhan71's thread which is addressing the same question here, rather than in a timeline as it's more appropriate. Don't take what Ayyubi72 says personally, he's on thin ice for a reason.
