Can I travel on Indian passpt after attending oath ceremony?

Post by aneil » Mon Nov 25, 2013 4:34 pm

Hi all,

I've applied for Naturalisation last month (October 2013) (HSMP + Tier 1+ ILR), its approved and now I have received a invitation letter for attending a oath ceremony on 17-December-13. Problem is I'm supposed to travel to USA on 25-Dec for a holiday. I already have US visitor visa stamped on my indian passport.

The questuion is will me attending the ceremony make my current indian passport void? If not then can I still travel on my Indian passport to USA?

Thanks
Aneil

You can use your Indian passport for travel for the 3 months grace period after you acquire foreign nationality, so from the date you got naturalized.

The oath has nothing to do with this, do not worry about it.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.

I got worried since I felt once I take oath I will no longer be a Indian citizen. Hence my Indian passport will no longer be of any use.
