Dual Nationality questions

Post by ilrapp2012 » Thu Nov 28, 2013 11:21 am

Dear Seniors,

I feel this is the right forum where I can ask the questions about the dual nationality. With dual nationality and passport (UK + Pakistani), what exact advantages I have?

1. Can I still use my Pakistani passport for travelling instead of British?
e.g When I am travelling to Pak, do I need to use British Passport at that time or I can still use my Pakistani passport? Will it be consider bad or any negative point if I use only for Pakistani passport?

2. Can I still use my Pakistani passport for travelling to middleeast? If yes, then using Pakistani passport if I am travelling to Saudi Arabia or UAE, I have to apply for Visa I know? Can I still follow this? or I must have to use British passport for this.

3. I know having british passport means entry to 100+ country without visa? please correct me if I am wrong. Means, I can travel their without visa and they will grant me visa on the airport for the amount of duration I want to stay there and then.

4. Does US, Canada or DUBAI included in that?

5. Using the other passport, there is not anything wrong right?

I am confused little bit here, if someone can explain me the process.
sorry for my silly questions. I have never got into detail but I know a little bit so that is why want to clear things beforehand

Many thanks

When traveling to foreign countries, you should always enter and exit any country with the same passport. Not doing so is a common mistake made by dual citizenship holders and can be the source of an immigration nightmare.

You don't need to tell them that you have another passport if they don't ask for it or see it

British citizen can travel 173 countries with visa on arrival or no visa required

Saudis don't like dual citizen. Use your British passport whenever you can

Thanks very much for your reply.

So that mean, I can still use my pakistani passport when I am travelling to Pak, but then I have to use it at both end?

And I cannot travel to Saudi using my Pakistani passport?

Thanks,

As a point of interest for me (since I can't help) I'm curious to know why you're apparently keen to make use of your Pakistan passport when travelling in the middle east.

Not being familiar with the rules - does it bring any benefits?

(note: my wife is a dual citizen and just uses her british passport unless she goes to her home country in south america when she uses her home country passport on arrival and departure, but then shows her british passport when she arrives in Britain).

It is just I wanted to know each aspect before I travel.

So that means I can travel using my Pakistani Passport still to Middleeast/Saudi or Pakistan. but for middleease/Saudi, I just have to apply visa before hand and UK passport give me advantage for not applying the visa beforehand? Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

All visitors, including pilgrims, require a visa to enter Saudi Arabia. You should apply for a visa through visa agencies accredited to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.

For British nationals, the options are :

1) Transit visa, valid for 3-7 days, only with through plane tickets or when driving your car to places like the UAE from Jordan.
2) Hajj/Umrah visa, given only to muslims on pilgrimage
3) Business visa - only with invitation and sponsorship by a Saudi business partner
4) Tourist visa : Only on a high-end package tour of the country where you are accompanied by a tour guide and travel as a group at all times.

Of course you can use Pakistani passport but If you show your British passport in the Saudi airport then less question, less hassle and jump the Que.

In saudi arabia you need to carry your passport all the time even when going for a shopping ( Police can ask anyone , anywhere )

and you will have more right and protection. You will realise the value of your British citizenship when you live in Middle east.

I lived in UAE and Saudi Arabia for 15 years

There is a high degree of discrimination in certain middle eastern countries. My hubby who is Pakistani tells me that a British Passport is beneficial for arriving in Pakistan (not Middle East) showing both passports apparently avoids unnecessary delay (and often costs).

Although the details have been removed from the page below,

http://www.nadra.gov.pk/index.php/products/cards/nicop

but in the past, you could travel to Pakistan on an overseas passport along with a NICOP card, used to save the hassle of using two different passports and/or visas. Maybe getting in touch with NADRA will help to know if it is still the case.

As others have pointed out, you may find that travelling to middle east might be much more stress-free on a British passport than a Pakistani one.
