I came to the UK to study under a government scholarship. I signed a contract that I will return to my country after finishing my degree and work there for twice the number of years I enjoyed the scholarship. I intended to do exactly that until I fell inlove and married my husband who is a British citizen.
I'm currently on a FLRM visa and I am applying for ILR next year. My passport has expired and my government's embassy in the UK has declined to renew it because of the breach of the scholarship contract. I cannot afford to pay them now as I have only started working.
I have been advised that my FLRM visa is still valid without a valid passport. However, I'm worried about my ILR application next year. Can I still apply without a valid passport? Would the breach of contract in any way affect the UKBA's decision?
I would be grateful for any advice.
