EEA Fmily Permit and travelling within EU without a spouse

Post by busya13 » Thu Jun 21, 2007 4:56 pm

Hi everyone!
My name is Busya I'm from Kazakhstan I'm married to a Czech citizen my EEA family permit finishing end of october. I'd like to travel to France on my own in the beginning of august for a week On the website of the french embassy the requirement is more than 3 month on the British residence card to get a visa I still havent applied for residence card Is it not possible to travel with my current 6 month visa? Does the spouse neccesarily have to be with me? Anyone has experience with this? Thank you in advance Would really appreciate competent information Thnx

I think you have a problem. The EEA family permit is only valid for the UK, you cannot use it in any other country (maybe Ireland?). Once you get a residency card, you can theoretically travel through EU without your spouse. In France this seems to work, although some other countries continue to make traveling rather difficult.

The best thing to do is to ask the French Consulate in the UK. You probably have to apply for a visitor visa, and I can see no reason why you shouldn't get it.

If visiting the UK, i.e. either holding a C-Visit British visa or with a British Residency valid for 6 months or less:
8. Your confirmed return travel ticket to your country of residence;
9. Proof of your stay in the UK (letter from the British school/ company for studies/ business, letter of invitation from your sponsor in the UK + their passport + their birth certificate with English translation certified by Embassy). Those applicants must apply in person.

Is EEA Family permit considered a British Residency valid for 6 month or less referred to above?

Letter of invitation from the sponsor : is my husband my sponsor?[/quote]
