It's regarding 39000 applications submitted in October. Well, say for instance it is real, it would entirely depends on the workforce deployed to process the applications. Say for instance 200 case workers are dealing, and each person has to process 10 applications daily, the equation would be..
1person per week=10x5=50
200persons per week=50x200=10000
200person per 4 week=10000x4=40000

Please search on internet for UKBA chief inspector's report for Nationality department performance for the figures I have used.

If we look at the quarterly citizenship application figures for 2013. Till September there were 57-58K applicants in last quarter (3 months) for which all payments were processed within 1 week or max 1.5 weeks. Suddenly everything is changed and longer processing time is blamed on high level of applicants. Even the situation was ok till 9th OCT. If we look at the applications for LTR all are acknowledged within a week however the processing for BC seemed entirely different and it has kept so many people waiting just to get an initial acknowledgement.
Not to forget the possibility of reduced applicants in Nov and Dec also evident in the forum. So all together till end dec the overall quarterly figure should still be within the usual range and should be processed as such.
I hope the outcome will be positive for those already waiting.
All is well that ends well.

Hello, I received my approval on Friday :D
However, I travelled abroad to give birth and I am currently looking after my newborn son. Do you think this is an acceptable reason to apply for an extension on the time I have to attend a ceremony?

Not being rude or anything, your charting of data removes the whole point of charting data in a meaningful and discernible manner on this forum for all to understand and tract changes. I see you have just joined, but could you please follow what has been used on these message boards and proven to be discernible by all. Sorry didn't mean to sound hush, but it had to be said.

Good luck to all waiting applicants!!!

Below is the log I kept for the Naturalisation follow-ups. Hope it helps somebody for phone numbers or email address.

04th December 2013 - Called 0870 606 7766 (option 2) at 11:30 am. Gave NFEE number. Lady said it will take upto 20 days but corrected saying it will take six months. Quite hesitant with her reply. I do not know if she was hesitant to say it was a decision was made. May be I was reading too much into it. At 1:30 pm got an email from HO <FurtherNationalityEnquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk>. It was a reply to the email I sent on Nov 5th. I thought it was very thoughtful given their volume of applications. Below is the email I received:

Dear
Thank you for you query. I apologize for the delay in reply.
Our records show that a decision has been made on you application and you will receive a confirmation letter in the post.
Regards,
AO12
Home Office
North West Correspondence Team

29 November 2013 - Called 0870 606 7766 (option 2) gave first name and dob, they said application is on the system and descision has not yet been made.
21 November 2013 - Called 0870 606 7766 (option 2) gave home office reference number NFEE, dob and nationality, they said application is still with them.
05 November 2013 - Emailed HO at FurtherNationalityEnquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk to ignore my previous email about payment not being taken, with a wee apology!
04 November 2013 - Received acknowledgement letter from Home Office about application and payment received. Letter was dated on 30th October 2013
01 November 2013 - Called Credit card team, they said payment of £874 was taken from account on 30/10/2013. Felt a bit stupid for emailing HO when payment was already taken.
31st October 2013 - Sent HO an email at FurtherNationalityEnquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk concerned about payment not being taken not. Got an automated reply with general text from
NationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
30th October 2013 - £874 taken from Credit card account, but I was not aware of it as the credit card transactions do not update online immediately.
25th October 2013 - Called 0870 606 7766 (option 2), they asked for HO reference number, I said I didn't have one as acknowledgement letter not yet received. Operator took name, dob and nationality and mentioned I am not yet onto the system probably because of the new rule change.

Latest fee deductions table for October:
jotter wrote: The percentage value represents the number of people who've informed us they've had their fees deducted as a proportion of the total number of people who've informed us of their applications. The percent includes people who've since also had their case decided.

Note that the date or date range refers to when we believe that the HO received the application, not the date it was sent.

Week ending Oct 5th = 100%
Week ending Oct 12th = 100%
Week ending Oct 19th = 96%
Oct 21st = 78%
Oct 22nd = 83%
Oct 23rd = 75%
Oct 24th = 10%
Oct 25th = 6%
Oct 26th = 0%
Week ending Oct 26th = 52%
Oct 28th-29th = 33%
Oct 30th-Nov 2nd = 0%
Week ending Nov 2nd = 11%
This is being updated here.

Hi,
This section is for Oct application not Nov. You have better to move it to Nov time line.

Ring them today, they searched my name with DOB and confirmed that I am not even in the system.
Advise: Next year shall be on the system and then they shall take the money from my account.

By the way I applied on 23/10/2012.

Interesting. So it looks as though one is not 'on the system' until they've done the initial check when they debit the fee and send the acknowledgement. Then one must wait the extra period for the decision. The 6 month deadline on visibility, however, should (must) be worked out from the date of the HO actually receiving the application, not the 'on the system' date.
