Dependant status ILR to British Citizen

Post by mrsenn » Sun Dec 15, 2013 9:03 pm

Hello all

I tried to look for an answer for the question below but couldn't find it. Please help me with this clarification.

I am on ILR. My wife and kid are on dependent visa valid until Feb 2016 and then have to extend for another 2.5 year term before they are eligible for ILR.

I am looking to apply for naturalisation next month. Once I get the British Citizenship, should my wife and Kid get the dependent visa changed to reflect the change of status of my passport?

I read somewhere this is not necessary as dependant or ILR and British Citizen are of the same category, however, I am not 100% sure. Could anyone please clarify this?

Thank you
