an enquiry for registration of a child under 18

Post by opentutors » Thu Dec 19, 2013 2:39 pm

I have an enquiry for registration of a child under 18.

My daughter was born at 2006 in the UK, then she was sent to home country and came back to UK at 2011. My wife and I have just achieved Indefinite leave to remain and would like to register British citizen for our daughter. As her current UK visa (PBS Tier 1 dependant) will be expired soon, do we have to make an application for British citizenship before the expire date? Many thanks in advance.

No, the child is entitled to register as British by virtue of section 1(3) BNA and would not need valid leave. However, it may be wise to register ASAP.
